Work environment, missions and activities

You will be working in the Optimisation of Processes in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (OPAALE) unit. The aim of OPAALE's research activities is to design sustainable systems for processing and adding value to cultivated, food and waste biomass, adapted to their local contexts. This research is based on the development of knowledge, methods and solutions in terms of biomass characterisation, transformation processes and associated digital models, as well as technical, environmental and health assessments.
Your mission will be to produce an LCA methodological framework adapted to the evaluation of territorial transition trajectories for the circular management of household bio-waste. This work forms part of the BEECOME 2 research project funded by ADEME, which aims to develop these transition trajectories for two study areas using both a dynamic modelling approach and a socio-technical analysis of the territorial management of household bio-waste.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:
1.    Literature review of existing methods for assessing the sustainability of trajectories
2.    Development of an LCA methodology based on the notion of decision paradigm and local drivers/levers
3.    Carrying out an environmental assessment of the trajectories for the study areas
4.    Comparing the environmental results with other sustainability criteria

Special conditions of activity: journeys in France to be planned

Training and skills sought

Recommended training: higher education in environmental studies (engineer or PhD)

Desired knowledge: Proficiency in LCA methodology or other environmental assessment methods

Appreciated experience: Initial experience in environmental assessment (internship, thesis, fixed-term contract) is desirable.

Skills: Scientific creativity, capacity for interdisciplinary dialogue with modellers and social scientists
